Key Butere Girls Players Set to Miss Super 16 Tournament

The East African girls’ soccer giants, Butere Girls, will miss the services of their four key players in the upcoming Super 16 Soccer Girls Tournament 2025.

Captain Halima Imbachi, Berine Ikanya, Patience Asiko, and Joyangela Valencia will not be available for the Red Commandos as they target winning this year’s edition. The four players are among the U17 team selected by Coach Beldine Cheche to prepare for the U17 Girls’ World Cup qualifiers.

The Super 16 Soccer Girls Tournament 2025 is set to happen starting February 26, 2025, in Kisumu. The tournament will be played across three venues: Moi Stadium, Kenyatta Stadium Mamboleo, and Kisumu Boys’ pitches.

Amus College from Uganda is among the teams that will be participating in this year’s edition. Other teams include Butere Girls, Nyakach Girls, Wiyeta Girls, St. Joseph’s, Lwak Girls, Jera, Kwanza, Madira Girls, Nasoko, Saye, Alara Girls, Kudho, Dagoretti, Kobala, and Mwira.

The opening ceremony will be conducted on February 26, 2025, at Kenyatta Stadium from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM before the first game of the day.

Nyakach Girls will face Kwanza in the first fixture of the day at Mamboleo Stadium from 11:00 AM. Butere Girls will also play their first game in the same venue against Wiyeta Girls on February 27.

The final day will see Kobala JSS face Turn Pro FC in a curtain-raiser match before the finals.
