A section of Kenyans on Monday 13, January louded Dr. Peter Mbae after he resigned as the head of government delivery services.
Dr. Mbae in a letter dated January 9 and addressed to the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix cited unresolved issues he raised to Mr. Kokei’s office
“Despite my passion, focus and consistency, for reasons and issues that I have consistently brought to your attention and have not been resolved to date, it has not been possible to carry out my duties as intended and my position as Head of Government Delivery Services is no longer tenable,” read part of the later
“In order to be accountable to the people of Kenya, owing to the fact that the appointment was widely circulated, I therefore request to formally disengage from this appointment so as to pursue other interests,” Mbae added.
Shortly after Mbae posted the letter on his Facebook page, Kenyans thronged the comment section with the majority praising him for what they termed a bold move.
Digital creator Duncan Kimani congratulated Mbae, describing him as courageous and principled
Kimani said that it is not easy to walk away from a prestigious position as that held by Dr. Mbae
“Congratulations on making such a courageous and principled decision to resign. It’s never easy to walk away from a position, especially one you were passionate about, but standing firm in your values and refusing to compromise your integrity is truly admirable.” Kimani said
Another Facebook user by the name Jerimah Kamau lauded Mbae for choosing integrity over the privileges that come with that position.
In a world where it’s not easier to compromise values, Kamau said that Mbae’s decision is an inspiration to the world.
“Your courage and commitment to your values are truly inspiring in a world where it’s often easier to compromise. This decision speaks volumes about your character and your dedication to doing what is right, even when it’s not the easiest path.” Said Kamau
Gichuiri J Max said that it was obvious working with president Ruto was not going to work. Gichuiri noted that Mbae’s decision was not carried with time. “It’s never too late to be honest with the Kenyan people “ He said
Speaking to one of the digital media outlets shortly after his resignation, Mbae said that he will pursue other interests going forward
“I was a professional in my own right before joining the government so I will go back to what I was doing before,” he said.
A conflict and resolution professional, Mbae highlighted his diligence and work ethic in his previous roles within government.
Before his appointment, he worked as head of ministerial Programmes at the office of cabinet secretary in the ministry of public service, performance and delivery management.
