As question flung over deactivation of her X account some days back, Scophince Aoko, commonly known as Maverick Aoko has resurfaced.
With her first update, Aoko has affirmed that she was in custody of her kin for safety, and now is free to give her ordeal.
”I remarked and iterated that you’d have to wait until I’m in the bastion of my birth, barricaded in the safety of my kin before I give you a “habeas corpus” photo…There you go!”
She has revealed that she got angry when people started questioning the authenticity of the person behind her X account. This forced her to deactivate the account temporarily.
“I had to deactivate briefly b’coz I got exasperated telling you it was me!”
As people questioned the truth of the posts on X, with other claiming that the government was behind them, a few days after Aoko had been found in Tanzania-Kenya border, the renowned government critic and blogger could not give much details to the stressed media users since it could jeopardise her life.
”As much as I understood your cynicism, I wasn’t willing to compromise my then location to ease your trepidations. Of that I bear no remorse,” she revealed.
“But there’s no way I was going to risk exposing my location. It would have made it easier for them to finish what they’d started,” added Aoko.
She confirmed that if she could give details of her location to quench the thirst of the perturbed X users, and her whereabouts revealed, and eventually, something happens to her, they would only tweet, demanding justice for her and that is how she would be gone, and her life cut short.
“We all know that if anything happens to me, worse than they’ve done so far, the only thing you’ll do is tweet “JusticeForAoko” for a few days. Rex Masai, Denzel Omondi and more than 60 others are rotting six feet and there’s no justice so far for them. The sun still sets in the West,” said Aoko.
She also affirmed that she is not too important to be killed, citing the recent abduction of Ugandan Opposition leader Kizza Besigye in Kenya, and his deportation back to his country, where he has been arraigned.
“My breath is no more weighty than theirs. Heck, kama Besigye ndio anakuwa abducted kama criminal bana, who are we?”
While appreciating her fans for their voices and support, Aoko has confirmed that her X account was not touched, since her ‘oppressors’ through their wild surveillance found her with a kabambe phone and not a smartphone.
