Kipchumba Murkomen Sends Message to President William Ruto after Reassigned Interior CS

Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports has thanked President William Ruto for entrusting him, following his reassignment in the Ministry of Interior.

In his X account, Murkomen said the opportunity to serve Kenyans in the controversial docket, is a noble accord and assured his commitment to the President.

“I’m grateful and honored to have been reassigned by His Excellency the President, as the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Interior and National Administration. Thank you, Mr. President, for this incredible opportunity to serve our great nation in this capacity,” wrote the leader.

Murkomen confirmed that he will perform his level best to address national security concerns in supporting Kenya Kwanza government’s agenda.

“I look forward to supporting the President in delivering on his national security and administration agenda. In keeping with my oath of office, I undertake serve with honour and dignity and to perform the functions of my office to the best of my ability,” vowed the CS.

The Ministry of Interior remained vacant following the inclination of Prof. Kithure Kindiki as the Deputy President of Kenya, after Rigathi Gachagua was impeached in October, 2024, following his fallout with President William Ruto.

The Sports Ministry held by Murkomen has been assigned to Salim Mvurya, the then CS for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs from 2022 to July 2024, a position that was later allocated to former Mombasa Governor, Hon. Ali Hassan Joho, to steer the broad based government between Ruto and Raila Odinga.
