The Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Dennis Itumbi has slammed Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s yesterday’s remarks on alleged sale of Bomas of Kenya by the government.
In a statement dated Monday,March 10,2025, Itumbi refuted the claims stating that they are false, reckless and deliberately misleading to the general public.
“Remarks attributed to the impeached former Deputy President on the modernisation of Bomas of Kenya are false, reckless and deliberately misleading,” Itumbi said in a statement.
Gachagua while speaking to a church congregation at ACK Diocese of Kajiado Holy Trinity-Kitengela Church on Sunday March 8,2025 had alleged that Bomas of Kenya has been sold to a Turkish national, and that of all the people in the said cabinet meeting, he was the only one who stood against it.
Itumbi furiously refuting these claims and in the statement slammed the former Deputy President for his dishonesty.
“Mr.Gachagua never opposed the modernisation of Bomas. In fact, he is on record in Cabinet supporting it’s fast-tracking , acknowledging that it was unfortunate that such a premier facility had been neglected for decades. To now claim otherwise is a textbook example of political dishonesty,” Itumbi claimed.
The creative economy head has otherwise stated that there have been no discussions, proposals or intentions to sell the National Treasure to any entity as the said claims but instead, the government is investing in the facility’s expansion.
He further went on to defend the Kenya Kwanza Government stating that the former deputy president’s reason for opposing different government projects is in view of the fact that no one would challenge his claims due to the nature of cabinet meeting termed confidential.
