Ademola Lookman Wins CAF Player of the Year

Ademola Lookman of Nigeria and Atalanta bagged the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Men’s player of the year after an outstanding season which he led his club Atalanta to a Europa League triumph with his hat trick in the final.

Zambia’s Barbara Banda won the CAF Women’s player of the year award after her heroics with her club Orlando Pride and captain of the Zambian women national team. Banda makes history as she becomes the first ever Zambian woman to clinch the award.

Lookman won the award after seeing off stiff competition  from  Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi, South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, Andre Onana (Cameroon), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea) and Simon Adingra from Ivory Coast.

Ivory Coast grabbed the Men’s team of the year for their AFCON heroics as host nation while the Nigeria women team grabbed the Women’s team of the year after their Paris Olympics brilliance.

Al Ahly won the Men’s club of the year after winning the CAF Champions League for the fourth time in five years. DR Congo giants TP Mazembe  grabbed the Women’s team of the year after their CAF Women Champions League triumph and domestic prowess.

South African goalkeeper grabbed the Men’s interclub player of the year as well as Men’s goalkeeper of the year.

Lamia Boumehdi won the Women’s coach of the year for leading TP Mazembe to Champions League triumph while Ivory Coast Emerse Fae won Men’s coach of the year for leading his nation to AFCON glory.
