Bridgerton star, Rege Jean will star alongside the Little mermaid’s Halle Bailey are set to lead in the upcoming movie Italianna, as reported by ABC Audio
The film’s screenplay was written by Ryan Engle based on the original idea from him and Kristin Engle, and will be directed by Kat Coiro who is known for directing Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson rom-com, ‘Marry me.’ Coiro also directed six episodes of Marvel series ‘She-Hulk,’ in which she was the executive producer.
Fans are expecting a hit with the two included, even though the project seems to be shrouded in secrecy, as there has been no additional release of the cast or the plot details.
Halle Bailey is known for being part of a music duo with her sister; Chloe x Hailey, and she rose to fame when she debuted as Ariel in Disney series. Another breakthrough in her career came in 2013, when she starred in the Little mermaid. She is also a Grammy nominee, for her role as Sky Forster in ABC’s Blackish spin-off series, Grown-ish.
Rege Jean’s career hit the peak following the massive success of the first season of Bridgerton , where he starred as Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings. He won most of his viewers hearts based with his acting skills, but later opted not to return for more episodes. His most recent acting credits include 2023 fantasy movie Dungeons & Dragons; Honor Among Thieves and Steven Soderbergh’s latest thriller, Black Bag.
Other significant figures included in the movie production include Johanna Byer under Will Packer Productions. This will be their first-look deal with Universal Pictures. The project will be overseen by Erik Baiers and Jacqueline for Universal, alongside Alvie Hurtado for Will Parker Production.
Additionally, this marks Halle latest movie project after nearly a two year break from her back to back performance in 2023, starring in ‘The Little Mermaid and Color purple.
No one really knows what the movie is all about..Who knows? Perhaps it will have Rege and Halle as rival gelato shop owners in a battle for dessert dominance, or they might as well be International spies using Italian cuisine or cover, or maybe, have an intense eye-contact and a fast forward chemistry while grabbing coffee in one of the most revered Italian restaurants, the bottom line is, no one knows, and that is what keeps fans eagerly anticipating what is to come.
