Kenya’s betting firm, Odibets, is the official sponsor of the ongoing Genowa Governor’s Cup 2024 edition in Homa Bay County. The company has partnered with Homa Bay County under the leadership of Governor Gladys Wanga, with teams competing for cash prizes and kits, culminating in a grand prize of KES 1 million for the champions.
The partnership was announced during the launch of the Genowa Governor’s tournament subcounty edition in Homa Bay Sub County. Odibets emphasized its commitment to developing and inspiring youth through sports in the country, celebrating the passion and potential of Kenyan athletes as they strive for excellence and the development of their talents.
Governor Gladys Wanga expressed her gratitude to Odibets for their support.
“Our strategic partnership with our development partners is making a significant impact in transforming the lives of our people,” Wanga said adding that the collaboration has led to projects such as the Obengle Water Project and support for Ward Boda Boda SACCOs.

The tournament, which kicked off on November 16, has been played across all wards in Homa Bay County and has grown into one of the county’s major grassroots sports events. It features football, netball, and volleyball, with the finals scheduled for December 26 and 27 at the Raila Odinga Stadium.
In the Homa Bay Sub County edition, White Stars FC emerged as the champions, defeating Prisons Central FC 2-0 in a thrilling final. White Stars FC will now represent the sub county at the county level, aiming for even bigger prizes. Oyala FC, the previous champions of Homa Bay Sub County, were eliminated by Olodo FC in a 4-2 penalty shootout in the quarterfinals.
Prisons Central FC advanced to the semifinals after eliminating Magute FC in a dramatic 3-1 penalty shootout.
Odibets’ General Manager, Dedan Mungai, joined Governor Wanga during the event, emphasizing the company’s dedication to nurturing sports talent.
