Kenya Academy of Sports (KAS)  U17 team departed today Saturday January 4, 2024 for Tanzania. KAS will be participating in CAF U17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament, set to kick off from 7 to 18 January at Azam Complex Stadium in Tanzania.

The team which reported to the camp on December 29 2024, is set to compete with notable girls soccer academies across East Africa including: Hilad FC from Somalia, Aigle Noir Fc of Burundi, JKT Queens and TDS Girls Academy all from Tanzania, City Lights Football Academy from South Sudan, Bahir Dar Kenema FC from Ethiopia and Boni Consilli Girls Vocational Team from Uganda.

The girls received a huge boost ahead of the competition, as several Under 15 players have been promoted to the U17 squad. The players include; Tabitha Wambui, Faith Boke, and Christine Farrine. They join former U15 players like Lindy Weey in the U17 Starlets. Many players from the U17 World Cup team were also promoted to the U20 Starlets due to age.

The young Soccer Queens will kick off their CAF U17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament CECAFA region on Tuesday against Ethiopia’s Bahir Dar Kenema. Which will later follow a crash  against South Sudan’s City Lights and Tanzania’s JKT Queen all grouped in Group A. This is an initiative aimed at promoting women football across Africa.

The red commandos of Butere girls has 6 players in the camp, with it’s captain Halima Imbachi expected to lead the travelling squad to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The six  are:  Halima Imbachi, Dorcus Glender , Florence ‘Dogo’ Sifuna, Christine ‘Baby’ Farrine, Patience Asiko,  as well as Valencia Joyangela.
