Former nominated Senator Hon. Millicent Omanga has rejected President William Ruto’s appointment at the Nairobi Rivers Commission.
This comes hours after President Ruto gazetted the appointment of Omanga as a member of the commission to take up the place of former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu whose appointment was revoked by the court.
Omanga while rejecting the offer, acknowledged the President for trusting her with such a pivotal role and believing in her to serve in such a commission.
“I’m deeply honoured and grateful to H.E William Ruto for the trust you’ve shown in appointing me to serve on the Nairobi Rivers Commission . It’s truly a privilege to be considered for such a vital role in improving our beloved Nairobi’s environment and public health,”
After an elaborate consideration, Omanga humbly declined the offer, due to personal reasons, adding that the job may have not aligned with her current engagement.
“After careful consideration, I must respectfully decline the appointment due to personal reasons. I remain committed to supporting efforts aimed at restoring Nairobi’s rivers and stand ready to contribute in any capacity that aligns with my current commitments. Thank you once again for this honour and for the consideration,” confirmed Omanga.
President William Ruto appointed Omanga alongside former Starehe MP Margret Wanjiru, who was assigned the chairperson of the commission.
Omanga was initially appointed Chief Administrative Secretary in the ministry of Interior while Wanjiru in the ministry of Cooperatives before the court nullified the CAS positions.
