Top Premier League Clubs Scout Talent from JW Foundation FC in Nairobi

JW Foundation FC has concluded a groundbreaking scouting tour in Nairobi, setting a new benchmark for grassroots football development.

The team, made up of 30 young talents and a technical crew drawn from four clubs in Sitikho, Matulo, Bokoli, and Misikhu in Webuye West Constituency, was selected during the Honourable Joseph Lendrix Waswa tournament held in December 2024 at Webuye DEB Primary School.This annual competition, spearheaded by the Joseph Lendrix Waswa Foundation, showcases top football talent in Webuye West Constituency, Bungoma County.

Following the particular high profile tourney, team select JW Foundation FC embarked on a series of friendly matches against FKF Premier League heavyweights such as Kenya Police FC, Mathare United, Kariobangi Sharks, and Kenya Commercial Bank FC (KCB).

These matches offered the players invaluable exposure and a chance to impress scouts from top-tier clubs. The tour was a resounding success, with eight players earning the attention of FKF Premier League and National Super League (NSL) clubs.

Kariobangi Sharks FC scouted Gerald Chingili (Bokoli Juakali FC) and Omondi Junior (Webuye Sportiff FC). Kakamega Homeboyz developed interest in center backs Emmanuel Sikuku and Nester Orao while Talanta FC scouted Stanley Waswa and Gibson Bwire. Gogo Boys FC were interested in the services of Sill Friday.

This marks a significant achievement for the players, many of whom hail from rural areas with limited access to professional football opportunities.

A defining moment of the tour was the 1-1 draw against league leaders KCB FC at the KCB Leadership Center in Karen. The match was a showcase of grit and skill, earning praise from spectators and scouts. The young players’ ability to hold their own against seasoned professionals underscored the depth of talent in the JW Foundation FC squad.

Speaking to Nyanza Review, Isaac Wanjekeche, Programs Director of the Joseph Lendrix Waswa Foundation, praised the initiative’s impact. “This program, led by our chairman Honourable Joseph Lendrix Waswa, has given our youth a platform to shine. Seeing eight players scouted by Premier League and NSL clubs is a testament to the success of this initiative,” Wanjekeche stated.

Seasoned football coach Hamisi Mohamed was tasked to lead the team and also urged Webuye West constituents to rally behind Joseph Lendrix Waswa in his bid to become the area Member of Parliament to continue nurturing talent from the region.

“This is an indication that Joseph Lendrix Waswa is a performer. The Webuye West Constituency people should hold on to Honourable Waswa and his foundation in talent development regionally.” He said.
