The newly appointed Luanda Villa FC head coach, Leonardo Saleh, conducted his first training session a few days after his appointment.
Saleh, who replaced Gilbert Selebwa, was unveiled earlier this week by the club’s management during a press conference held at Samaritan Hotel in Ebusakami.
The CAF A license holder will now lead the Luanda-based club in their quest for a spot in the FKF Premier League next season.
His first assignment will be on Sunday, January 12, 2025, when Luanda Villa hosts Nairobi United at Mumboha Stadium in Luanda at 3 p.m.
An experienced tactician, Saleh has managed several Kenya Premier League clubs, including Kakamega Homeboyz and Posta Rangers FC. He also previously coached the Harambee Stars under-20 team and served as an assistant coach for the national team.
He is expected to bring his wealth of experience to Luanda Villa in the National Super League, with Francis Odour and Geoffrey Oputi joining him as assistant coaches.
Luanda Villa currently sits in 6th position on the league table with 22 points after 14 games.
Nairobi United, who are second with 25 points, will be aiming for nothing less than a win. A victory could see them claim the top spot in the NSL standings, depending on the performance of league leaders APS Bomet.
All eyes will be on Leonardo Saleh on Sunday at Mumboha Stadium in Vihiga County as both teams face each other in one of the most challenging fixtures of the campaign. Saleh will be eager to begin his tenure with a victory, especially with Luanda Villa coming into game week 15 in good form following a 2-0 win over Fortune Sacco in their last league match.
