‘Not me’ Senator Onyonka distances himself from the Viral X account

Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka on Tuesday 22, 2024, distanced himself from a viral X account spreading malicious information, purporting to be his.

Onyonka in  a statement published on his official X account urged his followers to ignore the account, calling it fake and unauthentic.

The lawmaker stated that the account is being operated by an irresponsible imposter, urging Kenyans to report it.

“The page below raising malicious information on X in my name is fake and unauthentic, being operated by an irresponsible imposter! Ignore and report,” he stated

According to an establishment from a search we did, the fake account impersonating Onyonka has a massive following of 76,000 compared to Onyoka’s official account that commands 40,000 followers.

Further, the account is Meta verified and has a blue badge while Onyoka’s official account is not verified.

The Kisii lawmaker has been a great critic of President William Ruto’s administration, with him being vocal in opposing unpopular government policies, the account has been making posts attacking the government.
