Kenyans have backlashed with activist Morara Kebaso over his unending request for financial help.
In his X account, formerly Twitter, Kebaso requested once again that Kenyans should dig into their pockets and offer him financial support to gear up his activities in advocating and fighting for them.
The activist who came into limelight for putting government on notice over misuse of public funds through fabricated projects, has asked Kenyans to contribute towards his drive for change campaign.
Through a video he shared online, Kebaso affirmed that every penny that Kenyans will contribute, will be accounted for.
“Wakenya wenzangu, am once again requesting for financial support for civic education campaign and our drive for change. We are willing to be accountable for every single shilling that we will receive from Kenyans,” said the political activist.
The activist said that this financial support will be efficient for civic education campaign in his plight to bring change in the country.
“What we are going to do is to recruit volunteers from the 290 constituencies in Kenya and we are going to coordinate a nationwide civic education campaign,” he said.
“Now as much as these people are willing to volunteer and do this for free, they need facilitation and not just facilitation, they need materials. For that reason, we are requesting you to be generous enough to support us,” Kebaso added.
He went further asking Kenyans who cannot give financial support to in turn volunteer to be part of the change by enlisting themselves as youth volunteers in the Inject website that will be opened on Wednesday next week.
This endless appeal for financial help has got Kenyans angry, with others calling him tax collector.
An X user by the name Bishop replied, “The tax collector is here.”
“Kuchanga is where we draw the line sir,” Tasha added.
Some termed his appeal an exploitation, claiming that it is not patriotism.
“At this point we can confidently say that this is exploitation. This is not patriotism in any way, it’s a hustle now. Not even Zakayo began like this, you might be the worst yet,” said Luvate Stella.
Hesborn Etyang was not left in slamming Morara. He said, “ This is too much Morara.’’
Wanjiru said, “ Wee ameomba sana.’’
El Chulo asked the activist to stop his fight for Kenyans since it has become a financial appeal.
‘Morara Kebaso just stop fighting for us. We are okay with Ruto,” he wrote.
“Bwana unaomba sana, hii pesa unechangiwa hutosheki,” replied another X user.
Bedan told Kebaso to work within his limits to avoid depending on Kenyans for financial support.
He said, “ It’s seems we have a new Zakayo alias TINDER SWINDLER, sorry I mean TWITTER SWINDLER…It’s high time you learn to work within your own means, let’s whoever is willing to support you do it without having you to ask for it.’’
The criticism did not stop at that. Nya Samia wanted to know if he is using Kenyans money to fund himself and not for their sake.
She wrote, “Sir, that is your personal account, jokamaa!! Are we funding you? Or the Inject Party? Unapenda pesa kushinda Ruto na hata haujafika huko.”
Another social media enthusiast, Eng. Kundu Achila told the activist to look for a job, adding that asking for financial help is not the solution to his problems.
He said, “Enda ufanye kazi bro, build your own political war chest. Omba omba won’t take you anywhere besides limited daily bread.”
