Shaffie Zele is a passionate football commentator at Radio Maisha, known for his deep knowledge of the sport and his expertise commentary style.

Born and raised in the outskirts of Kakamega, Shaffie has grown into an impactful football commentator with expertise to breakdown complex sporting ideas into simple language.

Shaffie has always put a master class whenever tasked to do so. Before joining radio Maisha, Zele was a sports presenter at Ruben FM. Despite a tough start to his Career Zele, became a household name in most parts of the Mukuru slums where Ruben FM covers and has since then developed into a full grown presenter.

His flair in narration of activities on the pitch banters and rhythmic football poetry has seen him become one of the most adored outside broadcast Mc’s and a top commentator especially from his days at the Ruben FM tournaments.

Currently working with top sports presenters Stephen Mukangai and Walter Kinjo, Zele has created a bond among them that makes the trio the most listened sports show whilst commentating EPL matches. With a flair for bringing matches to life, Shaffie engages listeners with insightful analysis, exciting play-by-play descriptions and an infectious enthusiasm that captures the essence of the game

While being a top Arsenal fan, he is the source of “timu ni jamo” while his other banters such as ‘wandindi fc, Katonzweni Mums and Sindikisa fc’ have also grown so popular amongst the audience .

Zele  has the ability to break down complex football strategies and present them in an easy-to-understand way that has made him a favourite among fans. His commentary extends beyond just the action on the field but brings attention to the emotional highs and lows of the sport, enhancing the listening experience.

In July 2021, he had to handle the pressure of an impromptu visit of the former president Uhuru Kenyatta to Ruben FM studios during a match between England and Italy. After the visit, he was congratulated for his top confidence and focus mattered by how he handled the situation.

In addition to his role as a football commentator,  Zele is well respected for his professionalism and dedication to the sport. He is also a business man running one amongst the few top sellers in the jersey industry, with his own Zele sportstyle hub. The sports enthusiastic has also been an influence to young and upcoming football commentators while also visiting different training institutions to mentor the young men and women to work smart and pay attention to simple details since the media industry is changing dynamics and it’s no longer a walk in the park.

His energetic and engaging commentary brings the excitement of football straight to the airwaves. His work has helped elevate sports broadcasting at Radio Maisha, hence seeing him become a top figure in the sports broadcast industry.
