Shortly after being discharged from Karen hospital, impeached Deputy President, Hon. Rigathi Gachagua is breathing fire following his wrangle with President William Ruto which eventually led to his untimely impeachment.

Speaking to the press, Gachagua called the President asking him to leave him alone together with his family for he has caused more than enough suffering. The embattled politician begged Ruto to let him have peace, having claimed that his life has been targeted on two occasions and he narrowly escaped death. Rigathi Gachagua has also narrated an incident where his food was poisoned and Ruto allies were waiting for the good news of his demise.

Bestowed on his confidence, Gachagua has called out the President asking him not to kill him and his children, exposing out that the head of state has been the one targeting him.

“Please, Mr. President, I beg you, don’t kill us or my children. We are a simple and small family; let us be. You have caused me enough pain; allow me to have my peace,” said Gachagua.

He has exposed that this ploy to have him dead happened on August and September 2024, but he became victorious. He has, however, stated that he doesn’t feel safe anymore since he is still being watched over.

“On August 30th, in Kisumu, undercover security agents bugged my room and one of them attempted to poison my food. However, we detected it and managed to escape the scheme.

On September 3rd, in Nyeri, a team from the National Intelligence Service tried to poison food intended for me and the Kikuyu Council of Elders. Then came the impeachment after two failed attempts to assassinate me through food poisoning,” he said.

The furious leader reiterated how he helped the President have power and now has turned his back against him.

“My brother, I helped you become the President. Leave me and my children alone. Do what you want with the country, but let me live because I was there for you when you were in trouble and needed a man to stand with you,” he added.

He has said that if something happens to his life and that of his family, Ruto will be the one responsible and held accountable adding that his security has been withdrwan.

Rigathi Gachagua was impeached two days ago by the Senate. However, a court injunction stopped the installment of Prof. Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President after being appointed by President Ruto and subsequently voted in by the Parliament.

The embattled DP, however, is hopeful that his fate will be exorbitantly good as he believes his lawyers will redeem him. He believes the impeachment was politically influenced before the Senate.

“My lawyers are in court and we have faith in the Judiciary. I requested the opportunity to be heard in the Senate. The grounds for impeachment are purely malicious and fictional. This is a political game by President Ruto to get rid of me,” he said courageously.
