The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested two more suspects in connection with Mombasa’s notorious gang Panga Boys.
The detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters in collaboration with their Coast Region counterparts arrested 24 year old Abbas Abdallah Abbas aka Tajiri and Brian Omondi Odida in a separate operations conducted on Thursday evening and Friday morning
The arrest now puts the total number of arrested suspects linked to the deadly gang to five as crackdown on more suspects continues.
The gang is infamous for terrorizing residents with armed robberies and muggings, primarily operating in Kiembeni and Kadzandani areas.
On Thursday, an operation driven by intelligence led to the arrest of three key suspects. Shaban Munga Ali (26), Sande Kalama Kitsao (24), and Shebani Charo Kalume (34) were rounded up in separate locations.
Munga and Kalama were apprehended at Mwatamba 2 stage in Kiembeni, while Charo Kalume was caught in Kadzandani in possession of a knife and two face masks, which are suspected to be tools of their trade.
The Panga Boys gang is notorious for using crude weapons, such as machetes and daggers, to carry out violent robberies targeting business premises and unsuspecting pedestrians.
Authorities are interrogating the suspects as they gather evidence for prosecution. The DCI has vowed to continue the operation until the gang is neutralized and the perpetrators brought to justice.
Residents in Kiembeni and Kadzandani have expressed relief at the arrests, urging law enforcement to sustain efforts in restoring security to the affected areas.
