The Standard Newspaper reported earlier today that the family of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua confirmed that the leader has been missing for over 16 hours after he was picked up by unknown people outside Karatina town as he was leaving a meeting.
This has caused fear, with Kenyans on social media spreading the rumours about Gachagua’s abduction. However, 5 hours ago, the former DP made a post on his social media platforms confirming that he had a meeting yesterday morning with a delegation from Kiama Kia Ma.
“These Senior Elders, mainly County Chairs and County Patrons drawn from various counties shared with me their ideas of what they think are the priorities for the year 2025, and the options they see facing our community especially as regards political direction and social integration,” posted Gachagua.
Additionally, two hours ago, the leader confirmed his presence when he made another post on his social media platforms, announcing that he had a meeting with leaders from Nyandarua led by Njeri Kahiga at his residence.
“This morning, I met with a team of young leaders from Nyandarua who were led by Njeri Kahiga at our Wamunyoro Residence,” wrote Gachagua.
These speculations about Gachagua’s abductions come amid increased cases of abductions in the country, despite some of the abductees released yesterday after public outcry.
He was, however, allegedly connected to the abductions by leaders allied to President William Ruto’s government, who claimed that Gachagua is abducting Kenyan youths to sully the president’s reputation by causing anxiety and fear.
Four friends from Mlolongo including Steve Mbisi, Kalani Mwema, Martin Zyuko and Justus Musyimi are yet to be found after they went missing 22 days ago, without any trace.
The police have distanced itself from such abductions, claiming that they have no any clue of such speculations, something that Kenyans refuted, asserting that such acts happen under their watch.
