Vivo Energy Kenya on Sunday February, 2, responded to concerns following a viral social media video questioning the quality of Shell V-Power fuel at select Shell service stations.

The video, titled “Testing Petrol Quality in Kenya,” has sparked public debate about fuel standards in the country.

In a press release seen by The Nyanza Review, the exclusive distributor and marketer of Shell products in the country, reaffirmed its commitment to quality assurance, emphasizing that all its fuel imports adhere to strict industry standards.

According to the company, Kenya’s fuel market operates with two primary Research Octane Number (RON) categories namely the Unleaded (RON 93) and Shell V-Power (RON 95).

“Each shipment undergoes certification at the source and further testing upon arrival in the country to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.” the company said

It assured consumers that stringent quality control measures are in place at its depots before fuel is distributed through its nationwide network of Shell service stations.

“We take these claims seriously and have initiated a comprehensive investigation, including independent laboratory testing,” the company stated.

The company has promised to provide more details as soon as their review is complete.

This development comes amid growing concerns by consumers over the quality of fuel, pricing and transparency in the petroleum sector.
