The quest for the Mt. Kenya region unity has seen to gain momentum in the recent days, with former allies of President William Ruto shifting camp to his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua, meeting him at his home in Wamunyoro.

The two, former Agriculture and Public Service Cabinet Secretaries (CSs), Mithika Linturi and Justin Muturi were seen enjoying a light moment with Gachagua on Wednesday, April 30, in Nyeri county.

Quoting Africa’s greatest novelist Chinua Achebe, Gachagua stated that the meeting was for a good course, and it is required by the elders to often meet, a statement directly hitting those against his calls to bring unity in the region.

“When we gather together in the moonlit village ground, it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so,” Gachagua wrote.

The meeting comes a day after the self-proclaimed opposition leaders including, Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Fred Matiang’i, Eugene Wamalwa, Mukhisa Kituyi, Justin Muturi and Mithika Linturi met in Nairobi, in a meeting that could set a coalition to replace the Kenya Kwanza regime.

According to Gachagua, the unity will liberate the country from the failures of the Kenya Kwanza, who have been accused of paralyzing important sectors in the country, including heath, education and manufacturing, which have resulted to high cost of living.

As the 2027 general election slow continue to approach, communities felt left out by president William Ruto’s administration have started to align, urging to have a political say in the next government. Despite romours of a divided Mountain, Gachagua has refuted the claims, saying it is shaking the government.

In his presser on Tuesday, April 29, Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya said the Luhya community will converge and plan of its political discourse during the Malava upcoming by-elections, asking outsiders to keep of the regions politics.

Earlier, Ruto has said he has not yet started doing politics, as his competitors will be scared once his campaigns kick off, which will be backed by his development scorecard.
