Former president Uhuru Kenyatta has asked the young generations —Gen Zs, not to be afraid of the people forcefully taking what rightfully belongs to them.
In a viral clip on X, Uhuru told the vibrant generation that they are the confident future of the country and should not be threatened by leaders taking public money.
“The problem currently is like people were scared after their wealth was taken. Don’t be cowardice, fight until you get what rightfully belongs to you,” he said.
He hilariously asked his niece Ngina, to also join the fight by the Gen Z. He warned of the aftermath of failing to stand up for ones’ right, as the consequences are dire.
“Don’t just seat and wait. Nothing is permanent. But everything is worth fighting for, once it is gone, don’t seat about crying. We already have the children who are very ready to fight for their rights,” he added.
Seemingly hitting on the new Cabinet Secretaries sworn in at State House, Uhuru asked them not to allow people enjoy what they hardly fought for.
“You can’t just stand there and let people take your hard earned sweat. The world doesn’t work like that. Be fearless people, fight for your rights,” he added.
He further added that they have their fully support from the already famished generation.
“Fight for your rights! We are the scared generation, your the energetic generation to help us. We are behind you, continue with what you’re doing,” he further added.
The sentiments has been received mixed reactions from Kenyans.
“He is not a saint either, but since we have a common enemy, his injection is important as a motivational factor to keep pushing for better governance,” Nyabul Ka’Nyabul posted.
“Alafu kuna mtu atasema ni incitement… Twende sana sasa,” DJrickskenya responded.
“I find it hypocritical for former president Uhuru Kenyatta to urge Gen Zs to fight for their rights when under his watch so many youths were killed and enforced disappearances were the order of the day,” Mukami Mungai wrote.
In December 2024, President William Ruto visited him at his home in Ichaweri, which saw days later his close allies including William Kabogo, Mutahi Kagwe and Lee Kinyanjui nominated for CS positions.
