Siaya county governor James Orengo’s Nyalore administration has been ranked second nationally in positive budget implementation in the country based on a budget review report by the controller of the budget.
The elated governor who spoke during the state of the county address on Monday, December 30, 2024 in the county assembly chambers, affirmed the county’s positive margin in budget implementation.
Orengo noted that Siaya is on the track in realization of transformation and growth through significant strides in the agenda outlined by the governor’s administration.
“Siaya is on the track in the realization of transformation and growth through significant strides the the 9 Point agenda outlined in our manifesto that we are studiously implementing ” he confirmed.
While speaking to the county assembly members, the governor expressed his gratitude to the assembly for engaging in strategic budget making,fostering vital linkages with the people of Siaya as well as providing crucial oversight of the administration in enabling appointments within the county government.
He noted that in his last address he decried a lack of significant investment capable of driving transformation in the county but had a committed executive which made deliberate strategic investment to foster industrial development and economic prosperity.
In his address, the governor spelled out his key achievements since assuming office as the county’s boss , highlighting key focus areas.
Earmarked in the financial year ,Orengo highlighted completion of Usonga Cereal Rice Mill where an additional Kshs.70 Million investment both from county and national government, a project which is set to enhance curing, improving finished product storage and solorization.
The governor confirmed the onboarding of a strategic investor on Lwanda Kotieno Fish Landing and Mini Processing site under his administration.
With the support of the World Bank, governor Orengo said that Siaya county has developed a county Cotton Investment Plant which involves modernising and expanding the Madiany Cotton Genery with a committed Investment of the seed money of Kshs.37 Million , which the county would wish to expand to have a fully fledged genery in Madiany.
The governor also announced the completion of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium which is set to be opened on Jan,2,2025 with a march between Kenya’s football giants Gor Mahia and Uganda’s Kitara FC on the 2nd, January 2025.
“The 20,000 capacity stadium which is due to be opened on January 2,2025 has enhanced facilities and features including the tartan rubber track ” he said.
Governor Orengo pointed out plans to roll out school feeding programs in ECDE Centres across the county in January 2025 , highlighting 13 wards already having feeding programs with more than 6000 learners.
