Government Delivery Services Head Dr. Peter Mbae has today, January 13, 2025, tendered his resignation, citing an inability to resolve issues with the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service in the Office of the President, Mr. Felix Koskei.
In his formal resignation, Mbae revealed that despite his commitment and consistency in service delivery to the government in overseeing the implementation of government projects and programs, he has publicly tendered his resignation in order to be accountable to Kenyans.
“Despite my passion, focus, and consistency, for reasons and issues that I have consistently brought to your attention and have not been resolved to date, it has not been possible to carry out my duties as intended, and my position as Head of Government Delivery Services is no longer tenable,” he confirmed.
Citing his formerly held positions that he served diligently and dutifully within the public service docket, Mbae thanked the Chief of Staff, Mr. Koskei, for the opportunity and trust bestowed upon him to serve in the sector.
Mbae, who has since served in the public sector as Secretary for Investments Promotion since January 2023 in the office of the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry, also served as Head of the Ministerial Delivery Unit in the same docket.
Until his resignation, Dr. Mbae was the Head of the Government Delivery Services, a position he was appointed to on June 7, 2024, to help support the execution of President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Model.
Serving in line with the Kenya Kwanza Government Manifesto, Mbae affirmed his previous loyalty and sacrifice with a genuine desire to achieve sustainable transformation in the lives of citizens, which has now been cut short based on unresolvable issues with the Chief of Staff.
