Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has claimed that President William Ruto will not win 2027 presidential elections even if he gets support from ODM party.
While speaking at Citizen TV, Sifuna is confident that Ruto will lose the polls, while claiming that ODM will only form alliances with with parties that advocate for people’s wellbeing, terming some parties incompetent and not fit for ODM’s coalition.
“Even if ODM supports President Ruto in the 2027 elections, he will still lose. We will only form alliances with political parties that are like-minded and pro-people, not those that are incompetent,” said Sifuna.
The Senator further dissed Ruto over Raila Odinga’s AUC chairmanship failure, asserting that it is Ruto’s mess that caused Raila, and propelled his loss. Sifuna said that the bad reputation that Ruto has created in Africa was the main reason African heads could not vote for Raila on Saturday last week, a contest that was won by Djibouti’s Mahamoud Youssouf.
“President Ruto has messed up both internal and foreign affairs. Kenya’s loss in the AUC elections reflects the poor reputation of everything Ruto stands for in the African region,” he said.
During the interview, Kisumu Senator Prof. Tom Ojienda heightened that Raila will bolster Ruto’s 2027 presidential bid, adding that the President only need to gather support from Western and Nyanza to secure his second term.
“Raila will return to support President Ruto in the 2027 elections. All Ruto needs to do is ensure he brings together Western and Nyanza regions. Therefore, no candidate can defeat Ruto; neither Gachagua, Kalonzo, nor Wamalwa,” affirmed Ojienda.
However, Thirdway Alliance party leader, Dr Ekuru Aukot warned that Ruto will only be a one term president.
“Kenya is in a crisis mode; Kenyans are struggling with basic needs. Ruto must be a one-term President because he is a political liar who has failed,” he confirmed.
