President William Ruto with his arch-nemesis in the 2022 election and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will be heading to Siaya for the fourth Luo cultural event scheduled for December 31, 2024
The event which will be hosted by governor James Orengo is part of the larger Luo cultural activities conducted across all the 4 counties dominated by the Luo community.
According to the organizing committee chaired by the Kisumu deputy governor, Mathews Owili, the event, dubbed “the spirit of the Luo unity in diversity,” will begin on 31st December, 2024 before culminating with the official opening of a new Olympic-standard stadium in Siaya town on 2 nd January, 2025.
Odinga who just participated in the African Union Commission Chairmanship debate in Addis Ababa Ethiopia Friday December 13,2024 jetted by to the country and is expected to be in Siaya ahead of the highly publicized event.
The president according to sources from both the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and MPs close to Azimio leader and our reliable sources from President Ruto’s corner indicate that the president is expected to be installed as a Luo Elder and given a Luo name.
These political events are expected to elicit mixed reactions across the political divide as they rekindle the county’s memory in the run-up to 2007 elections in which the duo teamed up with other members to form the formidable PENTAGON which gave the late President Kibaki a run for his money.
Sources further revealed to us that the new unity deal and the cultural event expected to be marked in Siaya County and the two dominant parties that is ODM and UDA are anticipated to forge an alliance which is geared towards propelling them to the 2027 general election.
With Odinga’s imminent exit from Kenya’s political scene should he be elected as the next AUC Chairperson,the president is expected to harvest and rip big from his traditional factions of Nyanza , Western,Coast,North Eastern, Nairobi and several pockets of Rift Valley and other Cosmopolitan areas.
Odinga is expected to take charge and do what could rekindle the historic Kibaki Tosha witnessed in 2002.
