Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has exposed that security agents are trailing his movements, as they also take notes of his visitors.
In his social media platforms, the recently impeached Deputy President has confirmed that the agents use unmarked cars to follow his movements.
“Security agents in unmarked cars have been following me wherever I go. They are parking at the entrance of my Nairobi residence, taking note of all my visitors, and they trail me whenever I leave the house, even all the way to my rural home in Nyeri,” revealed Gachagua.
He appended that last week on Sunday while attending a church service, a saloon car with number plate KDK 290S followed him to church after stalling a surveillance at his gate.
Upon verification, the vehicle is registered as a lorry, make Isuzu, and belonging to Komax Investment Limited.
“Last Sunday, the below saloon car that was parked at the entrance to my residence trailed me to PCEA Kerarapon Church, followed me to where I went for a late lunch and back to the house! Upon checking the NTSA portal, I noticed that the number plates are registered to a lorry,” added the former DP.
He has condemned the intimidation, alluding to the past regime of the late President Daniel Moi, whose tenure was cloaked with, abductions, torture and extrajudicial killings
“This surveillance and intimidation of Kenyans was last witnessed during the era of the dreaded ‘Special Branch’ during the 24 years of Moi’s misrule! In this era of extrajudicial killings, forced abductions and disappearances by state agents.”
He has, however, claimed that Incase anything happens to him, Kenyans should hold the state in account, while asking the Government to let him be and stop meddling in his affairs, citing how he was removed from office.
“I have thought it important to share with Kenyans the harassment and intimidation I am going through, and inform them to hold the state responsible if I am harmed by state agents. I request the state to leave me alone! You hounded me out of office, and you should now allow me to enjoy my peace as a private citizen,” appealed Gachagua.
The former DP was impeached on October 17, 2024 by the Senate and lost his case in the High Court thereafter, leading to the swearing in of the former Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Prof. Kithure Kindiki on November 1, 2024, to take his office as the DP. Consequently, Gachagua was also removed from the office of the Deputy party leader of United Democratic Alliance (UDA)
