It is seemingly a return of Raila Odinga and his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to the opposition, following the changes President William Ruto has made in his cabinet.
Expressing his wrath, popular blogger Robert Alai, who is also the MCA for Kileleshwa ward, has claimed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta has brought his team, thereafter, pushing ODM out of the way.
“Former President Uhuru has brought his A-team to push the “perennial opposition politicians” back to the opposition,” cried Alai.
In the recent announcement, President William Ruto has appointed former Cabinet Secretary for Health, Mutahi Kagwe the CS for Agriculture and Livestock, a position that was under Dr. Andrew Mwihia Karanja who has been moved to ambassadorial post. Kagwe is Uhuru’s ally.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has also been appointed the CS for Information, Communication and Digital Economy, that was held by Dr. Margaret Nyambura. Kabogo worked under the Jubilee government.
The President has appointed former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui as Investments, Trade and Industry CS.
Also nominated is Cabinet Secretary for Sports Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen who was moved to the CS for Interior, after the post was left vacant by Prof. Kithure Kindiki. He was appointed the Deputy President, following the unceremonious impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua.
Additionally, former Governor of Laikipia, Hon. Ndiritu Muriithi has been nominated as the chairperson of the Board of Directors, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), a state corporation that controls revenue.
These appointments come barely a month after President William Ruto met Uhuru Kenyatta, in what was termed as steering political stability in the country.
Alai during his lamentations, praised Raila as an idealistic leader, while asserting that everyone is selfishly tribal.
“Baba is idealistic and wanted face of Kenya. Baba wants Kenya as he has imagined it. It exists in an ideal world. Everyone else is selfishly tribal,” said the MCA.
However, Alai confirmed that Raila will have to revert to opposition, since he has no choice.
“There is no way Baba will crack this team. Baba and Kalonzo are back to the opposition,” Alai claimed.
Alai has been enjoying Raila being part of the government, that has supported the former Prime Minister’s Africa Union chairmanship bid. Alai has since been diligently defending Ruto’s government.
This outcry is propelled by the fact that there is no ODM leader that has been incorporated into the cabinet slots. Reports had earlier claimed that Odinga wanted additional slots, to pay for his support and his move in calming down protests which massively attacked Ruto’s administration.
Among the heavyweight rumoured to be nominated in the slots was Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, who was anticipated to fill the Interior docket after Prof. Kithure Kindiki was sworn in as the DP, following Rigathi Gachagua’s ouster.
