Raila Launches LV Marina Complex in a Bid to Spur Business in the Lake Region

Kisumu County has today, Saturday January 18, 2025 witnessed a transformative milestone as Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga officially launched the LV Marina complex, a groundbreaking waterfront development aimed to redefine urban dwelling and economic growth in the lake region.

Located along the shores of Lake Victoria, five minutes from Kisumu International Airport, the LV Marina is a master-planned community that seamlessly combines luxury and functionality.

Speaking about the event’s outcome, Governor Nyong’o highlighted that the project will transform the city’s outlook and attract tourism and businesses.

“The state-of-the-art luxury project encompasses 11 sections , featuring upscale housing, commercial spaces, recreational facilities, industrial opportunities and a world-class convention center at its heart,” Nyong’o stated.

The development spearheaded by GulfCap Real Estate under the leadership of Hon. Suleiman Shabal, aims to elevate Kisumu’s profile to a hub for investment, innovation, and tourism.

On his part, Raila Odinga lauded the project as a symbol of Kisumu’s progress and greater potential.

“This is not just a development; it’s a vision for the future of Kisumu—a city ready to embrace opportunity and resilience,” Odinga said.

As construction commences, LV Marina is expected to create numerous job opportunities and position Kisumu as a leading destination for investors and innovators across East Africa.

With its bold vision and Prof. Nyong’o’s ‘tichtire’ government, Kisumu is firmly on the path to becoming a beacon of progress, anchoring the region’s future in prosperity and sustainability.

The launch drew a great number of notable key public figures and politicians, including Governor Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi), Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Ken Lusaka (Bungoma) and Paul Otuoma (Busia).

Also in attendance were Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, Minority Leader Hon. Junet Mohammed, Senators Edwin Sifuna and Moses Kajwang’, and other distinguished guests.

Nyongo urged Kisumu leaders to inform their constituents of opportunities within the construction site which he says is a backward and forward opportunity.
