Prince Indah Elated as President William Ruto Honours Him with OGW

Evance Ochieng, popularly known as Prince Indah, the king of Ohangla, was on Thursday 12, December honored with the Order Of the Grand Warrior (OGW) by President William Samoei Ruto during the 61st Jamhuri Day celebration held at Uhuru Garden in Nairobi.

Taking to his Facebook page, the ohangla maestro expressed his deep gratitude for receiving the award and thanked his followers and fans for their continued support.

“I am incredibly humbled and grateful for receiving the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) from the President. This honor is not just mine, it belongs to all of you, my amazing fans, who have supported me every step of the way,” he mentioned.

Indah assured his fans that this is just the beginning and expressed appreciation for their role in his journey.

“Your unwavering belief in me has made all of this possible. Thank you for being a part of this journey. This is just the beginning,” he added.

The celebrated Ohangla artist recently pledged to embrace change in Ohangla music. Through a Facebook post, he urged his fans to see music not as a competition but as a way to deliver good music. He emphasized that each new sound and style is an opportunity to learn, adapt, and expand.

“It is not about competition, it’s about providing good music that resonates with you, our fans, and elevates the Ohangla genre as a whole. Every new sound and style is an opportunity to learn, to adapt, and to broaden the impact of this great music form,” he stated.

He also encouraged his fans to welcome change with an open mind and heart and to continue supporting and uplifting one another.

“I urge all of you to approach this change with an open mind and heart, knowing that the goal is always the same, to produce great music that we can all be proud of. Let’s continue to support and uplift one another, celebrate progress, and keep pushing forward together,” he wrote.

Among the Kenyans acknowledged with various honours  during the Jamhuri fete include CDF Gen. Charles Kahariri, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Suna East MP Hon. Junet Mohamed, Salim Mvurya,  Lt. Gen David Kimaiyo Tarus, Lt. Gen. Juma Mwinyikai, Maj. General Ahmed Fatuma, Maj. General Paul Owuor and Maj. General Thomas Ng’ang’a, actress Sarah Hassan among others
