Donald J Trump, the 45th and soon to be 47th U.S president will be inaugurated today Monday, January 20 in Washington.
The event was moved two days ago indoors to Capitol Rotunda over bad weather claims.
Is it a political comeback for Trump, as he will takes the office again after 8 years?
Trump will be sworn in at 12.00pm East African Time (5pm GMT, 4am Tuesday AEDT), which falls on Martin Luther King Jnr Day.
He said that the inauguration and speeches will be done indoors in the US capitol Rotunda, and live stream of the ceremony and parade will be held at Capital One Arena in Washington.
Trump is expected to hold the Bible during the ceremony, and recite a 35- word presidential oath that will be administered by Chief Justice John Roberts, and Trump’s running mate, the Ohio senator, JD Vance, will be sworn in moments before as the Vice-president.
Americans, and other people around the world will be able to access the ceremony on different platforms. In US all major news network will broadcast the inauguration, In UK, it will be broadcasted on BBC from 3.30pm GMT and iPlayer, in Australia.
African can can access the coverage from all-free-to-air TV networks and in other parts of the world, people can stream it on Youtube on the “White House channel”.
The ceremony is to be graced by all walks of life including; tech executives, former presidents, foreign leaders among others.
Some of the famous founders and billionaires will be in attendance including: TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew; Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg; Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos; X and Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong.
Barack Obama and his wife Mitchelle Obama declined the invitation with unclear intent, but seemingly, Trump’s victory was a conflict to their interest because they were huge supporters of the presidential aspirant, Kamala Harris.
The event will also be graced by celebrated artists among them Mariah Carey, Christopher Macchio, Carrie Underwood , Snoop Dog among others.
However, Snoop Dog’s attendance is causing controversies, especially among his fans, as he had earlier picked on black artists who performed at Trump’s last inauguration.
“Snoop Dog said any Black artists that performed at Trump’s first inauguration was a ‘Jiggabo..” KirkWrites79 commented.
“Snoop’s switch-up is wild, calling others out before, but now blurring lines for convenience. Principles shouldn’t fold for partnerships.” Dee added.
They also expressed their feelings concerning the inauguration on X platform.
“Trump’s Inauguration is being moved indoors because of the ‘cold’. I’m guessing reality is that he doesn’t want to compare his tiny crowd size to President Biden from 2021, which was clearly far more than double what Trump had in 2017, so embarrassing.” Deelawson commented.
“I attended both of President Obama’s inaugurations and the temperatures were even colder than what’s predicted for Trump’s inauguration. If you ask me, the real reason why Trump moved his inauguration indoors is he’s terrified his crowd size will be embarrassingly small.”
Although most Americans were not elated about Trump’s election, his supporters could not hide their excitement.
“I haven’t stopped smiling since the election.” Michelle said.
“Haven’t been this excited ever in my life.” Civilgal added.
The companies funding the ceremony include the world’s five largest tech, each company contributing at least $1 million. They include Microsoft, Google, Auto industry, Pfizer, Hims & Hers, Intuit and Robinhood.
