The fourth edition of the Piny Luo Festival 2024 will be hosted by Governor James Orengo in Siaya County from December 31, 2024, to January 2, 2025. This event will celebrate the Luo culture and unity of Homa Bay, Kisumu, Migori, and Siaya Counties.

Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, on his Facebook page, invited everyone to join them in the Piny Luo celebrations that will feature events like boat races, traditional displays, sports, and community discussions.

“Join us for this annual event, now in its 4th edition, proudly hosted by Governor James Orengo. Celebrate Luo heritage with boat races, traditional exhibitions, sports, community discussions, and much more,” Nyong’o wrote.

The host governor, James Orengo, warmly invites everyone to participate and honor cultural participation. On his Facebook page, he confirmed that the President of Kenya, William Ruto, and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will be present.

“The chief guest will be Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and on January 2nd President William Ruto will inaugurate Siaya Stadium. There will be a football match between Gor Mahia FC and Kitaru FC from Uganda,” he noted.

The community-based organization Ndege Amazing Love For All (NAFLA) is excited about the completion of the Siaya Stadium as it focuses on nurturing young sports talent. NAFLA supports the community through initiatives like anti-jigger campaigns and sanitary pad distribution while using events like the Ndege Annual Tournament to provide platforms for young athletes in football, netball, and volleyball to showcase their abilities.

The ongoing annual tournament has continued to inspire the next generation of football stars. The completion of Siaya County Stadium will provide a proper avenue.
