Businessman George Nundu has launched his first bid for the North Alego Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat, citing a strong personal conviction to spearhead the ward’s development.
His entry into the race has rattled the incumbent MCA, Mr. Vincent Odawa, who is currently serving his second term at the Siaya County Assembly.
Nundu is among the aspirants who have publicly declared interest in the seat and has made it clear that his mission is to unseat Mr. Odawa and advance progressive leadership that is people centric and development oriented
His declaration was swiftly followed by a series of grassroots consultations, some of which culminated in his formal endorsement by community leaders. On September 4, 2025, he received the backing of the Kanyiori clan in a high profile event held at his Agoro Tula home, attended by clan members and respected elders.
During the endorsement, Nundu pledged to prioritize security, education, sports and talent development, healthcare and infrastructure, promising to make these the cornerstone of his legislative agenda once elected.
“Thank you for your unwavering support and trust. I promise to honor your faith in me and work tirelessly for our ward’s prosperity,” he affirmed.
Unlike his competitors, the first time aspirant has already rolled out developmental projects across the ward, a strategy that observers view as a calculated bid to demonstrate leadership capacity. His initiatives include the installation of street lights in trading centers, fundraising for school fees for underprivileged students, and extending financial support to small scale businesses.

By September this year, Nundu had successfully installed security lights in seven markets which are Ogoria, Umala, Nyamila, Bar Kodhiambo, Kobare, Nyaresi and Tula. This achievement has elevated his visibility on the campaign trail.
The North Alego MCA race has attracted several contenders, among them seasoned music band manager Pius Omudho, former councilor Owino Nyakako, former MCA Pius Ombiyo and businessman George Otieno Nundu.
Meanwhile, incumbent MCA Vincent Odawa faces mounting criticism from the electorate, many of whom accuse him of being absentee and failing to deliver meaningful development. Odawa first clinched the seat in 2017, succeeding Engineer Pius Opiyo, before defending it successfully in 2022 after a bruising contest with his predecessor.
