Following the hullabaloo witnessed earlier today at Mama Anne Nanyama’s funeral in Bungoma, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has termed the verbal attacks malicious. In an official statement released by the Governor, Mr. Natembeya has said that during his time he served as a diligent, honest and truthful servant to the people of the republic of Kenya and not an abductor and a murderer who orchestrated the deaths of innocent kenyans, as earlier claimed by Majority Leader in the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung’wah.
“I was the subject of severe verbal attacks by some political leaders through the litany of insults and profanity towards my persona. Among the claims, some political leaders alleged that I am an abductor and a murderer who orchestrated the deaths of innocent Kenyans during the last regime. Let it be known that George Natembeya served as a diligent, honest, and truthful servant to the people of Kenya,” he reiterated.
Kimani Ichung’wah earlier today during the burial of Speaker Moses Wetangula’s mother, claimed that Natembeya took part in the abduction of Kenyans while under former President Uhuru Kenyatta that led to the dumping of bodies of Kenyans in River Yala. According to the MP, Natembeya did the heinous act while he was the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner.
“Shame on you! And I say again, shame you, governor. You cannot claim abductions when you are the key abductor and murderer of Kenyans in the previous regime,” Ichungwa said.
Mr. Natembeya has however insisted to his earlier statement that the leaders have a duty to ask everyone to adhere to the constitution and not to be carried away by euphoric cheers.
“Let it not be construed that condemning extrajudicial abductions is undermining the President. We all have a duty to remind state organs to adhere to the rule of law and our constitution’s principles. These politicians lack emotional intelligence; they get carried away by euphoric cheers senselessly without assessing the unforeseen consequences of their loose mouths,” he admitted.
Natembeya went further assuring that nobody will stop him from speaking his mind in his fight against vices in the country.
“I condemn the shameful utterances with the strongest terms possible. I will not be cowed or stopped by hired street hoodlums,” he affirmed.
Events today have left Kenyans wondering on whose hands they are safe especially with those holding power falling into causing dramas instead of siting for solutions that are being faced by their electorate.
The controversial abduction claims have caused fear and anxiety in the country, with citizens confused, since the police have claimed they are not behind the abductions, as politicians allied to the government asserting that such abduction claims are just speculations—not true.
