NAIROBI, KENYA — Concerns are growing over the whereabouts of Aoko, who has been unreachable for several days, leaving her family and friends anxious about her safety. According to her aide, who provided an update with the blessing of her father, Aoko has been living cautiously since her recent arrest, traveling to Nairobi only for essential meetings and court appearances.
The aide revealed that two weeks ago, upon returning to her Nairobi residence, Aoko found her main door forcibly broken at the hinges. Startled, she contacted the aide, who advised her to take photos of the damage and leave immediately without drawing attention. Fearing for her safety, Aoko chose not to disclose the incident publicly at the time.
Additionally, her caretaker and watchman reported seeing unknown men hovering around her residence, asking suspiciously about her whereabouts. Around this time, she also gave an interview to AFP, recounting her arrest experience and the threats she continues to receive.
Soon after posting a tweet about an individual referred to as Mr. “F,” Aoko went completely off the radar. Initially, those close to her believed she had gone incognito as a tactical move to throw off her adversaries, something she has done before. However, with no communication for days, her family and friends are now seriously concerned.
“We still don’t know where she is. Whom do we report to? The same police who bluntly told her lawyers, ‘We are coming for her’?” the aide questioned.
The family is appealing to authorities to confirm whether Aoko is in their custody, demanding her immediate production if she has been detained. “If she is hiding, we only pray she is safe and hope she reaches out to us, even discreetly, so we can have peace of mind,” the aide added.
As uncertainty shrouds Aoko’s situation, those close to her are calling for support and prayers, urging anyone with information to come forward.
