Mumias East Lawmaker Peter Salasya has asked President William Ruto to complete the stalled projects in the larger Western region.
According to him, the many stalled projections in the region should be given focus and priority by the president, and further revived for completion.
Reacting to the six-day long development tour of the president in the region, Salasya mention the delayed process of Bukhungu Stadium, the closed airstrip in Kakamega county, among other projects.
He further added that the region is beyond roadside promises, and it is time the stalled projects be given immediate attention.
“It is time to move beyond roadside declarations and entreaties. The stalled roads in Kakamega, the closure of Kakamega Airstrip, and the delayed progress of Bukhungu Stadium demand immediate attention,” Salasya wrote.
His remarks come after Ruto attended a interdenominational prayers at Cheptais Boys High School, Mt Elgon Constituency, Bungoma County, ahead of his development tour in the region beginning tomorrow.
He asked the two senior leaders from the region, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, to prioritize the needs of the region, including pressing issues to the president.
“As president William Ruto embarks on his six-day development tour in the Western region starting tomorrow, we trust that the third and fourth in command, Wetang’ula and Mudavadi, have diligently addressed the pressing issues facing our people,” he added.
In his speech during the service, Wetang’ula assured the president of the regions support, his sentiments seemingly hitting to the troubled mountain.
‘”As a region, unlike other region you have been too, we will not give you any headache. Headaches will come from other sides but not our region,” Wetang’ula assured the president.
The regions challenges have been the cause of rift between Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya and Wetang’ula, as well as Musalia.
Natembeya has accused the two leaders of failing to voice the region’s issues including extreme poverty, underdevelopment and failure to take he country’s leadership position despite having numbers.
