In an interview with a local station based in Meru, former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, disclosed the reason behind the rift between President William Ruto and his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

During the interview, Linturi stated that the former deputy was too honest to be working with Ruto. He further alleged that Gachagua was impeached for being truthful, refuting the presidents claims that he demanded KSh 10B to resign.

“Rigathi was impeached for being honest, he stood with Kenyans. Ruto is a liar, Gachagua never asked for any Sh10 Billion from him,” he stated.

The former CS further dismissing claims that the president talked to him. According to him, the two talked in December last year, and he was not seeking for a job.

“The last time I talked to him was in December last year and I was not seeking any job,” Linturi clarified.

In a twist of turn, Linturi distanced himself with the fake fertilizer scandal, he disclosed top government officials who were associated with the scandal, including the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Amin Mohamed and head of public service Felix Koskei, saying he took the blame because he was the then minister for agriculture.

Mimba imefika miezi tisa ni lazima mtoto azaliwe. I was nowhere near the fertilizer scandal. I carried the cross because I was in agriculture. DCI boss Amin is a criminal. He colluded with Ruto to release fake fertilizer just to soil may name. It’s Felix Koskei who called him and told him to cooperate in ensuring fake fertilizer is distributed,” Linturi further disclosed.
