Lugulu Girls High School in Bungoma County is among schools in the country whose results have been withheld by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

Speaking in Bungoma over the weekend, Governor Lusaka said the problem originated from within the county.

According to the governor, the political fights have also contributed to the distress of the girls, who have not yet received their 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results 2024.

“You might think that you are hurting Lusaka by doing so, but it ends up hurting everyone in the county. The problem is ours; we are the ones ruining our schools here. Consequentially, this in fight has ruined the name of schools,” he said.

He also attributed the delay on the teachers sending letters to KNEC, following their transfers, spreading lies about the only girls’ national school in the county.

“Letters have originated from the county saying negative things about the school. We are informed teachers who left the school are the ones who brought up this problem. Now Lugulu Girls’ is being viewed differently, and it’s our only national school,” he remarked.

He however said that he alongside the principal are working on resolving the stalemate to ease the distress among the students.

Earlier, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa said the school results were not rejected but withheld, and the ministry is doing verification on the results. He further assured parents that the results will be released.

“It is the first time in the history of Lugulu Girls that the results were withheld. I have had talks with the CS for education, and he assured me that the results were not rejected but withheld. This comes about when there is an exemplary performance. But the students will receive their results,” he stated.

The 2024 KCSE results showed a different outcome in the country, with more girls seating for exams than boys, as compared to previous years.

Uasin Gishu MCA from Kipkenyo Ward, David Kimeli hosted a huge party to celebrate his performance, which he scored a D+. The MCA said he was satisfied with the outcome and termed himself different.
