Leaders from both opposition and the ruling Kenya Kwanza government have reacted on the new formed marriage between United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Joint Framework.
After days of uncertainties, the two parties put down on paper to work together, in what both party leaders said was meant for the people, and reduce the tension in the country, that was signed at the Kenyatta Convention Center (KICC) on Friday, March 7, brings a new political shift in the country.
Reacting to the new cooperation, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the move was the biggest betrayal of the people, after the loss of young people Gen Zs, that sparked a new political dimension in the country in June 2024.
“What has come out of KICC today is the biggest betrayal of the Kenyans who lost their lives. The people’s loyal coalition will never betray Kenyans,” Kalonzo said.
Echoing his sentiments, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa said the leadership that is marked by blood cannot be successful, it is against the people, while things are not working in Kenya.
“The issue is to be or not to be, whether we choose to stand with the people or the side of Ruto to save him, that is the choice. We choose to stand with the Gen Z, we choose to stand with the people of Kenya. And as the opposition, we have choose deliberately and with clear minds where we want to be, those who have chosen to be with Kasongo history will judge you harshly,” Wamalwa stated.
However, Raila dismissing the opinion that the MoU is not an inclination of a political collision between ODM and UDA in 2027, which he said any further decision will be taken following the success of the aired MoU, Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has projected of a possible formation.
“The 2027 die is cast…” Khalwale stated.
Okiya Omtata said, the two leaders have declared war against the future of Kenya, faulting the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.
“Anyone supporting NADCO must be destroyed from public life. Raila Odinga and William Ruto have declared war on the future of this country,” he said.
Ruto in his speech, emphasized that the MoU, is aimed at bettering the lives of Kenyans, with issues affecting them including high cost of living, youth unemployment and the implementation of the two thirds gender rule, given key priorities.
