Kithure Kindiki Takes Over As UDA Deputy Party Leader After Removal of Rigathi Gachagua

In a statement released by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party  on Thursday, January 23, by National Chairperson Cecily Mbarire, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki takes over as deputy party leader.

In a notice to its members and the general public, Kindiki takes over on interim basis as party deputy leader.

According to Mbarire, the decision is in accordance with the Political Parties Act 2011, effecting the changes on the office of the deputy Party Leader.

“Pursuant to and in accordance with section 20 (2) of the Political Parties Act 2011, The United Democratic Alliance Party notifies its members and the general public of the following changes in the office of the Deputy Party Leader on an interim basis. First Deputy Party Leader EGH Rigathi Gachagua, New Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki,” read the notice.

Kindiki becomes the second party’s deputy leader, after former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua was successfully impeached by the senate in October 2024.

On January 17, the party clarified the position of Kindiki, following the merger with Musalia Mudavadi’s party Amani National Congress (ANC), where  Mbarire stated that Kindiki was the 1st Deputy Party leader, While governor Issa Timamy will be 2nd deputy party leader.

The announcements made by the party Chairperson Cecily Mbarire also affirmed that Mr. Kevin Lunani who was ANC chairperson, will now be UDA’s Vice Chairperson.

The notices come when the hearing of his case challenging his impeachment and removal from office begins today. In his petition, Gachagua said his removal was based on false allegations and lies.

Despite his removal, the former DP continued to expose rogue doings with  of his former leadership, calling our President William Ruto for being a vicious man, and failing to keep his promise of protecting his deputy.

However, responding to continues tantrum thrown by Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Musalia Mudavadi slammed him, of failing to accept reality and stop seeking sympathy among Kenyans, and causing unnecessary dram in the country.

He further laughed at the former DP, claiming that he cannot even vie for the post of a village elder, adding that he is just waiting time to delve in politics.
