Migori County is set to establish its second level four hospital following the groundbreaking ceremony for the new five-story Kegonga Hospital in Kuria East Sub County.

Presiding over the event at Kegonga Sub County Hospital, Governor Ochilo Ayacko highlighted the significance of the 300-bed facility in enhancing healthcare infrastructure and improving medical services for Kuria residents. The project, funded by the Ministry of Health, marks a major step in boosting health access within the county.

Governor Ochilo commended Kuria East MP Kitayama Maisori for his relentless lobbying efforts to secure development projects for his constituency. He reaffirmed his commitment to working with the national government to strengthen healthcare by investing in modern facilities and expanding access to quality medical services.

“Once completed, the hospital will enhance service delivery, ease congestion, and improve healthcare outcomes in the region,” noted Ochilo.

He further stated that his administration remains dedicated to quality healthcare by hiring qualified specialists and practitioners. In December 2024, the county recruited 80 medical personnel to enhance service delivery across its 167 healthcare facilities.

“As we progress, we will ensure the hospital is fully equipped and staffed to provide better healthcare services to our residents,” he added.

MP Kitayama Maisori emphasized the importance of collaboration between national and county governments in achieving socio-economic transformation. He pledged to continue lobbying for development projects to benefit the Migori community.

Additionally, he urged Kuria residents to register with the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) to access improved healthcare services.
