Former trade unionist Dr. Isaac Kinitty has slammed Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja over the disappearance of Kenyans, linking the state to the abductions.

In an exclusive interview with Kenya’s Vuuka FM on Thursday 2nd January 2025, the seasoned human rights advocate revealed that six young men have been taken in the past two weeks in a pattern suggesting they were targeted by the security apparatus for criticizing president William Ruto

Kinity said that despite calls from different quarters to have the abductees released, the police have failed to arrest or give details about the abductors adding that as a country, that should not be allowed to happen

“ The police have failed to arrest those abducting Kenyans and they are not giving us information about these people, we cannot allow this to happen.” Kinity said

The nature of the abductions, Kinity said, suggests an attempt to silence dissent through fear.

The outspoken activist also supported NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua’s statement that Kenyans are being abducted by a group of rebels from the Democratic Republic of Congo who are secretly in Kenya.

Allegations by Karura, he says, if true, then Kenya is not only dealing with internal problems but also an external threat to its peace.

“If these allegations are true, then Kenya is not just dealing with internal dissent but also external threats,” He warned.

Because the police have failed, Kinity has made a rallying call to the Kenya Defense Forces to move with speed and Intervene on the matter, noting that many countries across the globe have been saved by the military especially in cases such as the one being witnessed in Kenya.

“It’s obvious the police have failed. I’m calling upon the KDF to arrest the situation.”He said

He also called on the global community to come on board and save Kenya from president Ruto’s regime which he termed dictatorial.

According to Kenya National Commission in Human Rights (KNCHR) Since June, 2024, at least 82 Kenyans have disappeared with their whereabouts not known by their families and neither has the police given a substantive report on those missing

Majority of those believed to have been abducted are accused of creating satirical cartoons aimed at criticizing President William Ruto with the most recent being a depiction of the head of state in a coffin.

The Kenyan born who has been residing in the US believes that satire, just like any other way of communication, is a constitutional right protected by freedom of expression.

Kinity also raised concerns about the government’s mass cattle vaccination program, claiming the chemicals used could have long-term health impacts on Kenyans.

He urged Kenyans to ignore the vaccination which. He said, will affect future generations.

“We must not ignore this issue. If these chemicals disrupt human hormones, they will devastate future generations,” he said.

Last week, Dr. Kinity wrote to the US president JoeBiden and President elect Donald Trump to help stop the nationwide mass livestock vaccination.

A number of human rights organizations and the United States of America have raised concerns about the abductions, calling on respect for the constitution.

The United States of America on Tuesday this week raised concerns over the recent abductions in Kenya.

Nairobi Chargé d’Affaires Marc Dillard called for respect for the rule of law and end to the abductions.

Kinity’s call for action against abductions in Kenya comes in the wake of increasing numbers of abductions in the country.

At least two lobby groups have moved to court to compel Attorney General Dorcas Oduor to refer the cases of abductions and enforced disappearances to the Criminal Court of Justice ICC.

Kituo Cha Sheria and Mathare Social Justice Center want the international court to take action against the abductions.
