Former Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service Moses Kuria has hinted on a political merger that will bring lost glory to the Mt. Kenya region.
Kuria, who is currently a Senior Advisor at the State House acknowledged the meeting between President William Ruto and former President, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday. In a statement, Kuria has said that it is important for leaders to forgive each other and work together for the interest of the country. Having Kenyatta on board with President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, as according to Kuria, will be the best thing Kenya will experience in a bid to move the country ahead.
Kuria agreed that the country is at stake and needs selfless and patriotic leaders with interests of the nation at heart in order to help in terms of improving on the economy.
“Our nation is at cross roads. If there is a time when sobriety, selflessness, patriotism and putting the Interests of the nation above self was badly needed it is now. If the economy totally collapses and Kenya becomes a failed state, none will be the winner. Closing ranks and forgiving each other is much easier than having to deal with the aftermath of a failed nation state. In this regard, I wish to thank President Kenyatta and President Ruto for choosing the nation over personal or sectarian considerations,” said Kuria.
He added, ”Coming hot on the heels of the formation of the broad based government by President Ruto and Prime Minister Raila Odinga, it is another affirmation of Kenya’s resilience, stubbornly rising to the occasion when everyone expects us to jump to the abyss.”
Kuria underscored that as a bonafide individual from Mt Kenya region, the historic meeting between Ruto and Kenyatta perhaps offered a unique opportunity for examination.
Bracing and applauding Uhuru Kenyatta for choosing the reasonable line over expediency of momentous populism, Kuria hinted on a political merger, claiming that it was a mistake to have left Jubilee Party and join UDA. The leader affirmed that Jubilee Party is the only way out for redemption and it is not yet late, since he is ready to have reforms for its renaissance.
“Mt Kenya region, like all other regions deserve a strong political voice. It is our imaginable right. For all the good and bad lessons we have learnt, it was a mistake to leave the Jubilee Party. However it is not too late. We will now embark of bringing all the political parties with a footing in the region together under the Jubilee Party,” he assured.
From the experiences gained in 2016, having disbanded the party, Kuria is hopeful that the party can be rekindled. He assured his commitment to ensure Jubilee Party comes to life again, for the interest of Mt. Kenya region and Kenya at large.
“We did it 2016 when we dissolved parties to form Jubilee. We will do it again. Jubilee under President Kenyatta as the Party Leader is the way to go. Character Cha Kazi and myself will devote all our energies in that endeavour,” promised Kuria.
The leader also hinted the coming of Second Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), after the first one died a natural death.
“The frequent handshakes and artificial formations have vindicated President Kenyatta and Prime Minister Raila on the BBI initiative. They were right and we were wrong. I urge President Ruto, President Kenyatta and Prime Minister Odinga to close ranks and lead the nation in picking from where BBI flopped and give this country a Constitution that speaks to the emerging realities of our nation and our society. BBI Season 2 is urgent and can not wait,” he asserted.
