Confusion is increasingly engulfing Kenyans over the whereabouts popular blogger and government critic, Maverick Aoko.

Some are uncertain and unsure with updates about her whereabouts. A section of Kenyans have started to suspect that perhaps Aoko is not alive since they have not seen her in person.

However, as her search deepens, Embakasi East MP Hon. Babu Owino has confirmed that Aoko is doing okay, though some do not believe the MP.

The lawmaker informed citizens, through his post on X, formerly Twitter not to worry for the popular blogger is safe since he talked to her yesterday.

“Maverick Aoko is safe, nothing to worry about. I talked to her yesterday,” affirmed Owino.

Public outcry has covered social media platforms with people asking where the blogger might be, after she deactivated her X account earlier today.

Aoko had been found some weeks back at the Kenya – Tanzania border and her whereabouts have been since kept in limbo since Kenyans have not seen her in person.

Days before deactivating her X account, Aoko has been running her account, but Kenyans have not been satisfied enough that it is Aoko running the page. Some have been alleging that the government has been in control of Aoko’s X account.

The Embakasi East lawmaker has been close to Aoko and any updates he gives about the blogger’s whereabouts has been taken as true.

Murea Collins replied to Owino, “As long as you have confirmed, let us relax, She is our family that’s why we are worried about her safety. Wishing her quick recovery.”

Jackson Tochi, ”Silence, especially from a person known to be the opposite, can sometimes say more than words, but for now, I’m just glad she’s alright.”

“No need to worry. Babu will always give us updates,” said Samuel Wekesa.

TJ is still doubting if Aoko is fine, ”Lakini that was not her handwriting since she came back from where she was. Is she really okay?”

Obaithibutu, “Mheshimiwa it would be best if you see her in person for your people to end the anxiety.”

Okumu Ajinga wrote, ”Tumejua the mantra of this government, abduct=> torture=> kill=> dump the body. I am saying this with a lot of confidence after one of the major media houses interviewed the cops behind these treasonous acts. They said they get orders from a very senior government official, so understand if we are worried about Aoko.”

However, popular blogger Francis Gaitho alleges that Babu Owino is lying that Aoko is safe.

He said, ”Yesterday Aoko’s account was deactivated. Apparently it was cops who were using it. There’s a remote possibility that Aoko is no longer with us and that @HEBabuOwino is lying.”

This confusion has been magnified by the upsurge in abductions, torture and extrajudicial killings in the country that have taken shape over the last three months.

According to reports, over 80 Kenyans, especially women have been killed.
