Nairobi based Businessman Engineer Frederick Owino otherwise known as ZB is taking Ugunja’s politics by Storm as the constituency stares at a possible By-elections this year.
The quadragenarian entrepreneur is setting foot for Ugunja constituency MP and is keen to succeed the Energy and Petroleum CS Opiyo Wandayi.
Owino has outlined his 9 point agenda for the people of Ugunja and is optimistic to bring a transformational leadership in the constituency that is currently managed by CDF manager Moses Owino who has also declared interest in the MP seat.
According to his official website , the aspiring lawmaker has outlined a comprehensive plan focused on key areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, economic empowerment, and social welfare to improve the lives of residents.
In education which is his key agenda, the aspiring lawmaker intends to build and improve schools across the constituency. Scholarships, he says, will be provided to needy students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder access to quality education. He further pledges to set up digital literacy programs to equip young people with the skills needed to compete in the modern job market.
To enhance healthcare, he is pledging to construct new medical facilities and upgrade existing ones. His key focus will be on expanding health insurance coverage and prioritizing maternal and child health programs to reduce mortality rates.
Agriculture being a key economic activity in Ugunja, Owino plans to include the introduction of modern farm techniques, subsidized inputs, and irrigation schemes. Agro-processing plants will be established to add value to farm produce and ensure market access.
To drive economic growth, he is committing to supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by providing funding and fostering partnerships with industries to create job opportunities, especially for the youth and women. Infrastructure development will also be a priority, with plans to expand transport networks and increase electricity access. Improve roads and connectivity to attract investments, enhance trade and improve daily mobility.
Efforts to empower women will include programs focused on education, entrepreneurship and leadership opportunities. Support systems will be put in place for single mothers and vulnerable women, alongside special initiatives to assist widows, orphans and persons with disabilities through cooperative societies and savings programs.
Access to clean water will be improved through the expansion of piped systems, drilling of boreholes, and promotion of rainwater harvesting. Rehabilitation of water sources and enhanced sanitation facilities will be prioritized to curb the spread of waterborne diseases and improve public health.
Environmental sustainability will be addressed, says Owino, through the promotion of sustainable land use practices, tree-planting campaigns and proper waste management. Policies to mitigate climate change and combat deforestation will also be implemented.
He is dedicated to transparent and participatory governance, ensuring development projects are free from corruption and fostering public trust.
ZB’s vision is a leadership aimed to bring inclusive development and long-term sustainability to Ugunja constituency
