ODM lawmaker Caleb Amisi has hit out to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over his recent criticism on new nominees of IEBC chairperson and commissioners.
According to Amisi, Musyoka should stop politicizing on who becomes the next chairperson, and instead let the will of the people to prevail, despite suppression.
“Stop pre-occupation of who becomes IEBC chairperson or commissioners. The popular will of the people is sacrosanct to even the worst electoral body on planet earth,” Amisi remarked.
He advised the Wiper leader to not repeat mistakes of the previous elections with their coalition, which led them to miss out on the past three general elections.
“These NASA, CORD and Azimio gimmicks of IEBC must go never took anyone of you to State House. You guys wasted us. If I were leading you, by now Kenya will have changed and moved on,” he further wrote.
Amisi advised Musyoka to go round the country and popularize their agenda to Kenyans, as the hope they have been recently proclaim in the opposition. According to Amisi, a good manifesto will outshine any installed ‘system’ based election body, in favour of the leaders opposed by the electorates.
“Focus your energies on popularizing yourself as an alternative to an already crumbling coalition. Kivuitu led tallying centre cannot even compare to todays IEBC! But it did not help Moi’s twenty four year’s old regime when people rejected his project. Go out there and conquer the territories already waiting for saviour, IEBC will find you at the battle of the Waterloo,” he urged.
Their distinct remarks coming barely a day after President William Ruto released his list of nominees to head IEBC on Thursday, May 8, to be further approved by the National Assembly.
Among the nominees is Erastus Edung Ethekon from Turkana who was nominated to be the next chairperson. Nine others nominated to be commissioners include Hassan Noor Hassan, Mary Sorobit, Moses Mukhwana, Ann Nderitu, Fahima Abdallah and Francis Odhiambo.
