Homabay County Water & Sanitation Company Limited (HOWASCO) has announced its inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Governor’s Park starting at 2:00 PM. This historic meeting aims to provide a comprehensive review of the company’s progress, financial health, and strategic direction.
The agenda includes a detailed evaluation of the company’s performance, the presentation of financial statements for the fiscal year 2023/2024, and a review of the auditor’s report. Notably, the board has declared that no dividend will be paid for this period.
Additionally, shareholders will appoint auditors for the upcoming financial year, determine their remuneration, and participate in the election of directors. These discussions are expected to align the company with the Companies Act 2015, its Articles of Association, and the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) guidelines.
The AGM is anticipated to foster meaningful dialogue between shareholders and the company’s leadership, allowing for valuable insights and contributions regarding HOWASCO’s strategic direction.
This level of engagement is essential for addressing critical issues, particularly in a county that has long grappled with water and sanitation challenges.
Members who are unable to attend are required to appoint proxies, with completed forms submitted no later than 48 hours before the meeting. This measure ensures that all stakeholders have a voice in the decisions shaping the company’s future.
The success of this AGM could mark a significant turning point for Homabay County, paving the way for innovative solutions to its water challenges.
By fostering transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement, HOWASCO has the opportunity to establish itself as a cornerstone in delivering sustainable water and sanitation services to the region.
