Despite the flickering Kenya Kwanza government, community health promotion has taken a different stride, after its launch, where it has witnessed steadfast rise in number especially cases that were earlier on not paid much attention to.
The government came up with a plan to fortify community health units by assigning a full-time Community Health Administrator (CHA) to each unit, while targeting a 1:10 ratio of CHA to Community Health Promoters (CHPs) for effective supervision.
This initiative poised to enhance Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and ensure quality healthcare access for all Kenyans. Through the CHP program, 16.3 million hypertension screenings have been conducted, leading to 616,000 referrals for further medical assessment.
Early detection has reduced risks of severe complications like heart disease and stroke. Additionally, 24.1 million diabetes screenings were carried out, resulting in 284,000 referrals. Maternal and child health initiatives have identified 340,000 pregnant women, with 133,000 referred for antenatal care, while 6.1 million children under five were screened for critical health issues.

The Electronic Community Health Information System now covers 61% of targeted households, with 7.73 million registered. Over 5.49 million households have also benefited from routine visits by CHPs. The government trained 107,831 CHPs in 2024, equipping them with stipends and resources to serve in 45 counties bar Mandera and Mombasa. Furthermore, over 700 healthcare workers were promoted by the Public Service Commission to acknowledge their dedication.
Kenyans are applauding these milestones.

With these strides, Kenya Kwanza’s approach is bridging healthcare gaps and fostering public trust in health services, ensuring that every kenyan has access to timely and effective care.
