Former Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has told his successor Paul Otuoma to arm himself with a convincing development marking scheme to give him a realistic chance of winning his second term.
Addressing mourners during the burial service of retired civil servant Moses Akadake Oduya, 70-years-old, at Kamunyele Village in Katakwa location, Teso North Sub County on Wednesday January 29, Ojaamong said his successor should not take things for granted.
” The second governor should be able to tell the electorate how many ECDE classrooms he has built by 2027, how many ECDE teachers and doctors have been employed before the elections,” he said.
He further said that Otuoma should also tell voters how many tractors to mechanize farming have been procured by 2027, and the number of hospitals that have undergone infrastructural development.
Ojaamong acknowledged the support Busia residents had given him for over 20 years, expressing his confidence that the person to win the gubernatorial seat will be a different one from the incumbent.
“This time round, we shall take the county’s leadership elsewhere, asking mourners whether they concurred with his sentiments, which they responded in affirmative and pledged they will decide on who to vote for.
“For now, I have my person behind the scenes. I have heard the other one if given a marking scheme, and he fails, we shall explode, and rally behind our choice, who comes from here and his name is best known to you,” Ojaamong said.
Rallying his support for his preferred candidate, Ojaamong reminded the residents of the current situation in Mt. Kenya, where former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, tirelessly remind his people of the political betrayal from United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader William Ruto.
He urged the people to remain political vigilant, as he rallied support for youthful culture CECM Paul Ekwenye on taking national leadership.
“Mt Kenya has gone back to former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, and for us, where shall we go back to? We shall come and give direction slowly by slowly. The culture CECM Paul Ekwenye is young, and we shall secure for him an alternative,” Ojaamong said.
Former MCA Moses Ochieng, who represented gubernatorial aspirant Vincent Sidai said, Busia is searching for good leadership, noting that Ojaamong left Busia county united than those who practice tribalism, giving an assurance that Sidai is ready for the task.
Former Marachi West MCA John Oganga, who represented PAS Arthur Osiya, said they are ready to return the gubernatorial seat to if they strategies themselves.
Former Amukura Central MCA Moses “Baba” Ouma faulted the county leadership for hosting the president for three days, with no notable development agenda to table to the head of state regarding problems bedeviling the county.
