The anti-corruption court is set to continue hearing the graft case involving former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, his children, and alleged proxies. The accused face multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit economic crimes, conflict of interest, unlawful acquisition of public property, and money laundering.

The case revolves around allegations of misappropriation of KSh. 73 million. Prosecutors allege that Obado and his co-accused inflated the prices of goods and services to fraudulently benefit themselves.

EACC Investigating Officer Robert Rono has testified in court, presenting evidence of bank transactions showing how funds were siphoned from the Migori County Government’s accounts into those of the accused. Officer Rono has been testifying over the past three years since the trial began.

The prosecution plans to call 58 additional witnesses to bolster its case against Obado and his co-accused. The court is expected to issue further directions today as the hearing proceeds.
