Seasoned human rights activist Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity has called on the government to focus on ending corruption and supporting key sectors like business and farming to improve the lives of Kenyans.

In a press release dated Friday 17th, Kinity warned that no president in Kenya can succeed without addressing the deep-rooted problem of corruption, which has crippled the economy and led to widespread suffering.

The former trade union leader accused political leaders of exploiting the business community, both local and foreign, by extorting billions of shillings in the name of protection. Those who refuse to comply, he says, are often threatened with the destruction of their businesses.

Dr. Kinity emphasized that businesses and farmers are the backbone of Kenya’s economy and job creation. Without protecting and helping them, the country cannot move forward.

He criticized the ongoing practice of blaming past leaders for corruption while ignoring the living individuals responsible for looting public funds.

He argued that focusing on the crimes of deceased leaders serves only to divert attention from those currently stealing from the nation. He pointed out that fewer than two thousand people are responsible for looting trillions of shillings from borrowed loans, grants, and taxes.

Kinity urged the government to arrest, prosecute, and jail these individuals and recover the stolen funds to help transform Kenya.

He questioned why children of deceased leaders are often implicated in crimes committed by their parents, calling it unfair and unproductive. He stressed that the law is clear; individuals should only be held accountable for their own actions.

Dr. Kinity also condemned the silencing of dissenting voices in the country, citing the recent arrest of Reuben Kigame as an example of the government’s intolerance of criticism. He called on Kenyans to resist any attempts to suppress their democratic rights.

He challenged President William Ruto to lead by example.

“If William cannot allow Kenyans to exercise their democratic rights, he should step down and let someone capable take over,” Dr. Kinity said.

He added that eradicating corruption and protecting the democratic rights of citizens are the only ways to secure a better future for Kenya.

Kinity further condemned the arrest of perennial gospel artist and 2022 Presidential aspirant  Reuben Kigame. He  described the arrest  as an affront to democracy.

“Mr. Kigame is a patriotic Kenyan who is fully justified to express his dissatisfaction with the atrocities committed by the Ruto administration.” Kinity said in a statement to the press on Friday

He called on Kenyans to resist attempts to silence their voices by individuals looting public funds and perpetuating the country’s political and economic crises.

Kinity maintains that the head of state should resign and allow a more capable leader to govern the country if he cannot uphold Kenya’s democracy.
